Your Trust Matters
Why Your Privacy is Important to Us
At Gurjas Notebooks, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit gurjasnotebooks.com or place an order with us, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.
We’re a notebook manufacturer based in Patiala, Punjab — not a faceless corporation. When you share your details with us, we use them only to do our job: get your notebooks to you quickly, issue accurate invoices, and help you if something goes wrong.
If you have any questions about this policy, our contact details are at the bottom of this page.
1. What Personal Information We Collect and How
We collect information in the following ways:
When you create an account — Name, email address, and password (stored encrypted).
When you place an order (checkout) — Full name, shipping address, billing address, phone number, email address, and order details (products, quantities, price).
When you contact us — Name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message — whether you use our contact form, WhatsApp, or email.
When you browse our website — We use cookies and similar tools to understand how visitors use the site (which pages are visited, how long people stay, which products are viewed). This data is collected in aggregate — it doesn’t identify you personally unless you’re logged in.
When you subscribe to our newsletter — Email address only.
2. Why We Collect Your Information
Here’s exactly what we use your data for:
Processing and delivering your order — We need your name, address, and phone number to pack and ship your order, and to share with our courier partner so they can deliver it to you.
Issuing GST-compliant invoices — We are registered under GST (GSTIN: 03ARXXXXXXXXXXX). Your billing name and address are required to generate a valid tax invoice, which we email to you automatically after every order.
Customer support — If there’s an issue with your order — wrong item, damaged package, delayed delivery — we use your contact details to sort it out quickly.
Marketing emails — If you sign up for our newsletter or tick the marketing opt-in at checkout, we’ll occasionally send you updates about new products, seasonal offers, and stationery tips. You can unsubscribe any time by clicking the link at the bottom of any email we send. We will never send you marketing messages without your consent.
3. How We Handle Payment Information
We do not store your card number, CVV, or banking details on our servers — ever.
All payments on gurjasnotebooks.com are processed through a third-party payment gateway. When you enter your card or UPI details at checkout, that information goes directly to the payment gateway over a secure, encrypted connection. We only receive confirmation that your payment was successful or declined.
For Cash on Delivery (COD) orders, no payment details are collected online at all.
4. Who We Share Your Information With
We share your information only where it’s necessary to complete your order or run our business:
- Courier / shipping partners — We share your name, delivery address, and phone number with the courier service handling your shipment, so they can deliver your order.
- Payment gateway — We share your order value and order reference with our payment gateway for transaction processing. They have their own privacy policy and handle your payment data independently.
- GST / tax compliance — Where required by Indian tax law, we may need to include transaction data in our GST filings. This is a legal obligation.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. Ever.
5. Cookies and Tracking
Cookies are small files saved to your browser when you visit a website. We use them for three things:
- Essential cookies — Keep the site working — they remember what’s in your cart and keep you logged in. Without these, the shop cannot function.
- Analytics cookies — Help us understand which pages are popular and how visitors navigate the site. We use this data to improve the shopping experience. This information is anonymous and grouped — we cannot identify individual visitors from it.
- Marketing cookies — (Only if you’ve given consent) Allow us to show relevant ads on other platforms and measure whether our advertising is working.
You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time. Note that disabling essential cookies will affect how the site works.
6. How Long We Keep Your Data
- Order records (name, address, items, invoices) — 7 years (required under Indian tax law)
- Account information — Until you request deletion
- Contact form messages — 12 months
- Newsletter subscriber details — Until you unsubscribe
- Analytics / cookie data — 13 months (standard analytics retention)
7. Your Rights as a Customer
You have the right to:
- Access your data — Ask us what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy of it.
- Correct your data — If anything is wrong (wrong address, misspelled name), ask us to fix it. You can also update most details yourself from your account dashboard.
- Delete your data — Ask us to delete your account and personal information. Note that we’re required by law to keep financial records (invoices, transaction data) for 7 years, so those cannot be deleted early.
- Opt out of marketing — Unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email, or email us directly.
To make a request, email us at amarjiT@gmail.com with the subject line “Privacy Request”. We’ll respond within 30 days.
8. How We Protect Your Data
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe:
- Our website uses HTTPS encryption across all pages, which means data travelling between your browser and our site is encrypted.
- Passwords are stored in encrypted form — we cannot see your password.
- We do not store card or payment credentials on our servers.
- Access to customer order data is restricted to people who need it to fulfil and support orders.
We want to be honest: no website can guarantee 100% security. But we take the protection of your data seriously and have put in place the measures above to minimise risk.
If you ever believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at amarjiT@gmail.com.
9. Grievance Officer
Under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, we are required to name a Grievance Officer for our platform. If you have a complaint or concern about how your personal data is being handled, please contact:
Grievance Officer: Amarjit Singh Kamboj
Business: Gurjas Industries (trading as Gurjas Notebooks)
Address: D-XX, Focal Point, Patiala, Punjab – 147001
Email: amarjiT@gmail.com
Phone: 9876XXXXXX
We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 30 days of receipt.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add a new payment method or change our courier partner.
When we make a significant change, we’ll post a notice on the website and, where practical, send a note to registered account holders by email. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will always show when the policy was last changed.
If you continue to use gurjasnotebooks.com after a policy update, we take that as acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with a change, you are welcome to contact us or close your account.
